Centered in the community of El Monte, the Nuvein Foundation works towards celebrating the art, culture, and traditions of the diverse communities that make up the San Gabriel Valley. One way Nuvein celebrates the Mexican cultural traditions is by offering up an annual Dia de los Muertos event in Downtown El Monte at the Valley Mall.

The event features traditional Mexican arts and crafts vendors and merchants in an outdoor mercado, a Rincon de Poesia/Poet’s Corner where writers and poets share tales and poems about life and death and remembrance, a curated art gallery, as well as  a live performance stage featuring Aztec Danza, Mariachi music, Ballet Folklorico, and other performance art.

We at Nuvein look forward to continuing offering El Monte an annual Dia de Los Muertos event each year.

September La Puente Artwalk Vendor Spots available!

The Nuvein Foundation will be organizing an outdoor Vendor and Artisan Bazaar at the La Puente Arcade Lot located at approximately 15903 Main Street, La Puente, CA 91744.


Vendors will be placed and organized at the La Puente Arcade Lot by Nuvein Board members, Estella Neyer and Petra Nieto.

The Nuvein Foundation will be processing day of applications for booth spaces for the La Puente Artwalk event at the Arcade from 1pm-4pm. Applications for the 4th Annual Dia de Los Muertos – El Monte event will also be processed on this dafe by Nuvein.

Arts Crawl to have ‘Visions and Voices of the Valley’

The Nuvein Foundation, in association with the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, and the South Pasadena Arts Council are proud to present an event that highlights some of the artistic vision, lyrical melody, and poetic imagination that help build the SGV arts, music, and poetry scene.

Part music concert, improv, open mic, dance and theatre performance, and all fun, this event will unite multiple artforms to create an artistic showcase that is sure to delight, inspire, and awe audiences.

The showcase will unfold as part of the July 14th edition of the South Pasadena Art Crawl. Visions and Voices of the Valley will feature:

An interactive poetry open mic for poets and lovers of poetry hosted by Mike thePoet Sonksen. 6pm – 630pm

A double featured reading with poets representing the West and East portions of the San Gabriel Valley; with Don Kingfisher Campbell for the West SGV and John Brantingham for East SGV. 6:30pm – 7pm

A music feature by singer-songwriter Tisa Adamson,  a music and art prodigy of Greek and Mexican heritage, who has opened for Romeo Void, X, Motels, Fear and others. She went on to play as part of a duo with Ché Zuro for 15 years. Recently, Tisa has been writing, singing and performing with local musicians and friends Brie Darling and Randy Mitchell.  7pm-8pm

An improvisational performance by the Detour Comedy Improv from the Metamorphosis Theatre Company. The Detour Improv Comedy is the brainchild of Metamorphosis Theatre Company, resident company of the Fremont Centre Theatre. 8pm- 9pm
