UPDATE: We now have found all performers for the main stage at our Dia de Los Muertos event this year.
We would like to thank all interested parties and performance groups for their inquiries.
We at Nuvein value all local performance artists and look forward to putting on events to highlight all styles of performance. Stay tuned amigos!
The Dia de Los Muertos is a celebration of life and death against the background of traditions cultural, spiritual, and artistic that help to highlight the joys of community life, the importance of family, and help one remember with honor, joy, and reverence those that have departed.
El Monte is a San Gabriel Valley (SGV) city rich in the contributions of many cultures and in its centennial year, there is much to celebrate. Certainly, one of the contributors towards the development of El Monte has been the Hispanic and Latino communities.
This year at the Nuvein Foundation’s 2012 Dia de Los Muertos Celebration we wish to highlight these contributions and showcase them to a anticipated audience of over 5,00o eager and excited children, adult, and youth from El Monte, and surrounding SGV communities at our annual premier El Monte event.
The Nuvein Foundation thus issues an open call for the following type of performers:
- Aztec Danza – Aztec Dance group
- Mariachi y/o Conjunto – Mariachi and/or Hispanic Folk Music Group
- Arte Teatrico y/o Teatro Hispano – Performance Art and/or Hispanic Theatre
- Ballet Folklorico y/o Danza Hispano – Folklorico Dancers and/or Hispanic traditional dance
These would be compensated performances, and each performer/performance group would recognized by the foundation, the Downtown El Monte Business Association, the City of El Monte, and be given media exposure.
